    Students play dozens of different sports across the CSRA every year. Some of the players could be at risk for sudden cardiac death, having no signs or symptoms. Basketball, football, soccer and cheerleading can all be exciting sports, but they each take a lot of work and in some cases, that work could be too much for the heart to handle. One of the most vital organs of the body plays a major role in sporting events.

The planned outages will occur at 7:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. and each will last approximately five minutes. According to an area manager with Georgia Power, the outages are associated with planned maintenance and equipment testing at the Harlem Substation.

    The Riverwatch Parkway Extension project will cause some detours beginning Friday April 24th.The Georgia Department of Transportation will close Old Evans Road near Conner Drive at 9 p.m.The road will be closed so that a 36-inch sanitary sewer line can be installed.Detour signs will be in place this weekend to get you around the work area.The road is scheduled to reopen at 7 a.m. Monday.

    The Georgia Department of Labor announced today that the unemployment rate in the Central Savannah River (CSR) region for March was 6.8 percent, down two-tenths of a percentage point from 7.0 percent in February. The rate in March 2014 was 8.1 percent. The rate declined as the number of unemployed residents decreased by 426 to 13,698 from 14,124 in February. However, there were 50, or 4.0 percent, more new claims for unemployment insurance filed in March, as the number increased to 1,300 fro...

The driver fled the scene then got into another accident on Warren StreetFire crews are currently on scene and EMS is on the way. Injuries are unknown at this time.
