The fight to save the Garden City’s dogs and cats without a home brings about new plans for Augusta Animal Services. The most recent numbers show that 70 percent of animals at the shelter end up having to be euthanized. That's more than 13000 in the last two years. The issue is that the State of Georgia requires animals to be spayed or neutered before they can be adopted to prevent further population problems, but Augusta lost its part time veterinarian in March.
