That's down from 7.2 percent in November.Metro Augusta's unemployment rate for December was 6.5 percent.Metro Athens had the lowest area jobless rate at 4.9 percent.The heart of the Georgia-Altamaha region had the highest unemployment rate, at 8.8 percent.
